Westermeyer Receives Above & Beyond Award for Solving Mystery of Delaminating Deck

For Scott Westermeyer, an Outside Sales Representative in the Dubuque store, providing excellent service means listening to customers’ needs, understanding what’s important to them and helping them complete their dream projects.

One customer recently asked him to help solve a vexing, unusual problem: delaminating deck boards. “The customer was frustrated—fixing the problem was taking too long,” says Westermeyer, a 14-year Spahn & Rose employee. “So I gathered information and learned more about their struggle. I enjoy working directly with customers to find the products and solutions that will help them build their dreams.”

Westermeyer’s research enabled him to solve two problems: He fixed the customer’s deck and, in doing so, relieved the customer’s frustration.

Such determination garnered Westermeyer the December Above & Beyond award, presented each month to an employee who excels at customer service.

“I take pride in my projects—I want to help customers and make sure they’re happy with their experience,” says Westermeyer, who in his spare time likes traveling, good food and being with family. “I enjoy working directly with customers to find the products and solutions that will help them experience the dreams they’re looking to build. Spahn & Rose allows me to work alongside very talented coworkers with vast product knowledge.”

Any time a customer submits a review, the employee in question is nominated for an Above & Beyond award. Recipients receive a plaque honoring their achievement and a $100 Spahn & Rose gift card.
