BATHROOM, KITCHEN JOBS EASIER FOR CONTRACTORS WITH SPAHN & ROSE TILE SELECTION AND SERVICE

Contractors and builders can save time and make their next tile installation much easier with high-quality tiles from Spahn & Rose.

Over the last several years, Spahn & Rose has steadily increased its selection of kitchen and bathroom tiles, and recently added Midwest Tile, Marble & Granite to its vendor lineup. Available through the Dubuque Spahn & Rose location, tiles from these suppliers offer builders, contractors and homeowners a large variety of styles to choose from:

MSI International offers more than 4,500 SKUs of porcelain and ceramic tile, quartz countertops, natural stone countertops and tile (granite, marble, travertine, slate, limestone, quartzite and sandstone), prefabricated countertops and decorative mosaics.

Midwest Tile, Marble & Granite is a family business with in-depth knowledge of stone production and quality. The company, which offers a large selection of wall and floor tiles, has been a stone wholesaler since 1972 and in the stone business since 1946.

Shaw Floors has dozens of tile styles and colors available, and visitors to its website can create a custom color palette from an inspirational photo.

How to Choose Tiles the Smart Way

Spahn & Rose tile experts have extensive knowledge about tiles—their properties, their materials and more—and can help identify the best places to install them, whether in high-traffic areas, bathrooms, the kitchen or in areas used by kids.

“The tile marketplace has really changed recently,” says Ellie Ressler, Spahn & Rose Design Manager at the Dubuque location. “Customers are thinking outside the box not only with tile selection, but how they’re installed. Tiles are more decorative, and there’s artwork behind their installation. People are looking for one-of-a-kind pieces.”

Customers increasingly seek creative use of tiles on accent walls, backsplashes, showers and entryways. It’s also trendy to have tile installed in different patterns, such as herringbone, chevron or brick.

“It’s not unusual for customers to ask for three to five different tile configurations in a shower,” Ressler says. “Not only do we sell the tiles, but we offer suggestions for installation.”

Spahn & Rose experts will suggest tiles that fit within a specific budget, pairing the customer’s preferred style with knowledge of what’s trending now—such as earth tones and decorative farmhouse looks with black-and-white florets; warm gray tones balanced with white; and tiles that look like slate.

Measuring, Tile Selection and Ordering Assistance

Spahn & Rose makes any kitchen or bathroom tile project much easier for contractors and builders. Here’s how:

  1. Customer consultation. Spahn & Rose tile experts can walk your customers through the tile selection process so you can spend more time on the job site and less time reviewing chip samples. They’ll also help select the best type of tile for wherever it’s being installed. Certain types of tiles are better around shower drains, for example. “Builders don’t have time to sit with owners and go through dozens of options, worrying about coordinating colors and patterns,” Ressler says. “We figure out all that for you and ship the tile to your job site ready to install.”
  2. Accurate measuring and ordering. Spahn & Rose experts will detail how much tile to order based on square footage, tile patterns and customers’ preferred design. Accurate measurements decrease the likelihood of having to order more tile to finish a job. “Whether it’s ceramic, porcelain or glass, or installing a complicated mosaic, we know how to account for waste and chipping,” Ressler says.
  3. On-site installation consulting. In addition to creating drawings and sharing installation instructions, Spahn & Rose experts may go to your job site and walk you through how to install tiles and mosaics, or create tile patterns. “You won’t receive this kind of help from big-box stores,” Ressler says. “For some jobs, we’ve opened the boxes and laid out the tiles to show how a design should be done. We help you every step of the way.”
