As a former contractor, Spahn & Rose Outside Sale Representative Jim Offerman knows well the importance of staying on site working instead of having to run to a building-materials store to pick up a product needed to finish a job.
With that in mind, Offerman, based in Spahn & Rose’s Dyersville, Iowa, location, recently packed his pickup truck with 15 boxes of drywall mud and dashed off to a job site so a contractor customer wouldn’t have to stop working.
Because of his work ethic, customer service and deep industry knowledge, Offerman is the January 2020 recipient of Spahn & Rose’s Above & Beyond Award.
“Jim works hard, in and out of the office, taking care of customers,” says Mike Petsche, General Manager of the Dyersville store. “He is very meticulous to make sure orders are right, and deeply cares about his performance and the customers.”
After a career as a respected contractor in the Dyersville area, Offerman began working at Spahn & Rose in April 2018. He’s extraordinarily well-versed in the particulars of construction and building—knowledge that helps sell products and enables him to give informed advice to contractor customers, Petsche says. Coworkers at the Dyersville location rely on him for tips and industry know-how as well.
“Jim does about everything here,” says Brian Murphy, Project Manager at the Dyersville store. “He takes care of his contractors, customers and coworkers. Jim does it all—he’ll go on deliveries if all drivers are already gone, helps pull material if needed and keeps the office upbeat. Jim truly sets the bar here. He’s indispensable, in my mind, and deserves to be recognized for all that he does.”
Spahn & Rose employees can be nominated for the monthly Above & Beyond Award by coworkers, supervisors and customers. When a customer submits a review, any employees mentioned are nominated for the honor. Customers can also nominate employees for Above & Beyond through Spahn & Rose’s social-media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Recipients of the Above & Beyond Award receive a $100 Visa gift card and a plaque honoring their achievements. In addition, each Above & Beyond winner becomes a candidate for the company’s Employee of the Year Award.
