We sat down with Ellie Scherr, a cabinetry designer from our Dubuque, Iowa location for a casual interview about her design process. Get to know Ellie more here….
What is your favorite thing about your job?
“Seeing a project finish with everything coming together, after spending a lot of time and thought on all the details. Comparing the before and after pictures reminds you how far you have come and nothing is better than customer that is happy about their project!”
What is your favorite display at your location and why?
“I don’t know if I have a favorite, but if I had to choose it would probably be the Hickory vanity, because I like the stain color. I also love our lighting cloud and wall display. Sometimes a catalog cannot do those fixtures justice and it nice to see them installed in person before ordering.”
What is a fun fact about yourself?
“I like to garden and love plants and flowers! I started a large backyard garden this year and am producing a lot of zucchini, corn, green beans and found a pumpkin the other day. I am guessing it came from the composting we have done, because we didn’t plant it intentionally. Now we are busy canning so we can put everything to use. I also enjoy hunting and fishing any chance I can.”
What is your best advice to someone looking at remodeling their kitchen or bath?
“My best advice is to start early to give yourself plenty of time to plan. Make sure you’re able to get what you want so you don’t have to sacrifice because you’re in a rush.”
