On December 19, representatives from more than three dozen charities gathered at the Spahn & Rose Dubuque location for Big Red Check Day, where community leaders and representatives of 38 charitable organizations could mix, mingle, enjoy snacks—and, of course, receive some ginormous checks from Spahn & Rose.
This past year, the Spahn & Rose Charitable Foundation donated more than $130,000 to charities across communities the company serves. Big Red Check Day is a way for Spahn & Rose to thank the organizations for all the good they do.
“Spahn & Rose is proud to support the awe-inspiring work of these community organizations,” Spahn & Rose CEO Dave Davis says. “Spahn & Rose believes in giving back, and the organizations here on Big Red Check day make their communities a better place.”
The Spahn & Rose Charitable Foundation was established in 1950 to support programs that provide services for higher education, healthy communities and at-risk youth. Over the last three years, the Foundation has donated more than $300,000 to a wide range of nonprofit groups and other worthy causes.
This is just one of the many ways Spahn & Rose gets behind the people and places it serves. The company’s resources and its employees’ unique talents have helped Spahn & Rose forge a long history of supporting individuals and their communities through volunteering, donations and leadership.

Alzheimer’s Association of East Central Iowa: This Cedar Rapids-based nonprofit serves those with Alzheimer’s and their families, helping provide access to health care and other resources. Read More
Camp Courageous: A year-round respite care and recreational facility for people of all ages who have disabilities, this nonprofit in Monticello, Iowa, provides opportunities for campers to hike, canoe and create arts and crafts. Read More
Fountain of Youth Program: Based in Dubuque, Fountain of Youth strives to break the generational chain of poverty by offering participants financial literacy, interpersonal skills and mentoring. Read More
Junior Achievement of the Heartland: This group has helped more than 55,000 students in Quad Cities, Dubuque, Muscatine, Burlington, Sauk Valley and the Illinois Valley access hands-on elementary and secondary programs focused on work-readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship. Read More
Make-A-Wish Iowa: Every other day in Iowa, Make-A-Wish grants the wish of a child with a critical illness—a treat that can help give him or her the courage to comply with needed medical treatments. Read More
